Good Fortune in Azabu

The Azabu area in Tokyo has many hills and slopes, many with their own unique names and histories.

Daikoku Zaka is the slope that leads up to Daiho-Ji, a temple that houses one of the seven deities of good fortune.

The temple is dedicated to the god "Daikoku-ten" which is where the slope derives its name. Daikoku-ten is the god of good luck, wealth and the household.

It is said that if you visit each of the seven deities you will be protected from seven kinds of disaster, and will be blessed with seven kinds of good fortune.

The slope and temple is a five minute walk from Azabu-Juban station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku and Toei Oedo lines, and located between the Austrian Embassy and Moto Azabu Hills Forest Tower (a landmark apartment building of the Azabu area).

For more information on the seven deities, please see the Minato City Sightseeing Guide.
